Hello! My name is Mary Yeaman, and I am a third-grade teacher at Oakland Avenue Charter School. I have lived in Orlando, FL all my life. I began to feel a calling to become a teacher at a young age. Whether I was playing school with friends, tutoring younger children for fun, or babysitting, I had a desire and passion for helping others and being around children. I attended the University of Central Florida for elementary education, and I have endorsements in both reading and English for speakers of other languages. Each morning, students are welcomed into my classroom with open arms. I strongly believe in making students feel like they are at home away from home while in our classroom. I try my hardest to develop a safe community where students feel comfortable and confident, no matter what his or her abilities may be. I strive to influence children not only to be well educated but to be a good citizen as well. Outside of school, I have a passion for reading, learning, exercising, animals, and painting. I spend much of my free time with my parents, three silibings (and their spouses), and my two nephews.
