Hello Parents,
Listed below are some friendly reminders for our class. It is important that you look at and read the whole message as there are important reminders coming up for our classroom.
In Reading/ELA this week, We have read Mr. Putter and Tabby Spill The Beans. We are studying our chapter books for kids. Our students will be writing their own chapter book series by the end of the quarter. Please be sure to have the students review sparkle words, dialogue, quotation marks, and the 5 w questions (who, what, when where, and why?) Next week, we will be starting the Henry and Mudge book series.
In Social Studies and Science, we have begun creating our passion projects. Majority of this will be done in class, but we may be soliciting your help to have your students send in some research on their topic.
In Math, we have been working on adding 10 to any number and addition with regrouping. Please be sure to have your children practice this at home We will be continuing with this topic next week as part of our addition unit.
We will have no laptops in our classroom until April 30th, as they are all being used for FSA testing. Please be sure to get your child on I-Ready nightly during this period of time. We will be able to get them on at school via the ipads, but may not have enough technology available to do our minutes as usual. As always, if you are wondering how many minutes your child owes for each subject area, you can click on the "MY PROGRESS" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen to check. Our kiddos made their I-Ready challenge for this week, so they will receive their popsicle party. If they can get all their minutes in next week, we will hold a special ice cream party for them.
As always, please be sure to practice your child's addition and subtraction math facts and sight words daily. Also, try to ask your children questions about what they are reading as they are reading to check for reading comprehension, as end of the year assessments are going to draw near.
Our end of the year I-Ready testing for our classroom will take place on 4/25, 4/26, and 4/27. Please ensure that your child is present for the WHOLE school day and arrives on time, as our make up window is extremely limited for makeup testing, due to state testing.

As soon as possible, please send your child with a plain pink shirt that can be decorated for a project in our room. We would love to receive ALL SHIRTS by Friday, May 4th. Please let us know if you have any questions. They are currently on sale for cheap at Joann's, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby.
If you are looking for volunteer opportunities before the May 1st due date, please let us know. We are always in need of items for our classroom and having centers made for our classroom. We also have filing that needs to be done if you have the extra time.
There will be no library for the rest of the school year. Please return any books that your child may still have at home. If your child has lost their book, you will be required to pay a fee and another notice will be sent home.
We hope you have a great weekend and we will look forward to seeing your children, bright and early, on Monday.
