Hello Parents ,

We had a wonderful week in 1st grade. Here are some important updates and a few friendly reminders.

This week, in Reading and Science, we learned about the story, "Roller Coaster", The kiddos were very excited to share about their experiences on a roller coaster and talk about speed and emotions in relationship to it. we had a great time learning about these concepts.

In Math, we have been working on subtraction of numbers and subtracting parts from a whole. The students seem to be enjoying learning subtraction but please remember to practice your child's basic math facts for both addition and subtraction nightly at home with your children.

Our wonderful Room Mom, Arlene Tiwari, (Dylan T's mom) should be contacting you with more information about our Storybook Parade/ Holiday Party. We will be in need of donations of certain items for our room, so be on the lookout for her reminders.

Remember, we will be holding our Parent/Teacher conferences on Monday, October 16th from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Please be prompt with your arrival as we need to keep the time schedule flowing so we can meet with everyone. We are very excited to share your child's progress with you on Monday!

Scholastic Book Orders will be due Monday, October 30th. Our class code is HM2GT. Please feel free to go online to look at all of the amazing resources available for purchase.

We will have a new Student of the Week next week as we wanted Evina to be celebrated for the full week. :)

Our students once again have met their I-Ready minute goals for this week. Thank you again for all of your support in ensuring that the students are meeting their time requirements! We cannot thank you enough and we definitely are noticing significant gains in our students in the areas that they are working on.

That's all for now! We hope you have an amazing long weekend!
