I was born to an Arkansas farmer and middle school secretary. As the baby, and only girl, I spent a lot of time at the school with my mom. My love of education and interest in teaching started in my early elementary years. By third grade, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. During my early teens, we relocated our farm to Oklahoma. Graduating from a nearby college, I started my teaching career as a pre-k teacher in the very same school system I graduated high school from. This is my fourteenth year teaching.
Some may ask, "what brought you to Florida?" My love of the beach, anything nautical, and a three year plan did. It was a big move, but I love being here! Who doesn't love palm trees, seashells, and manatees? My family and I live in Clermont with my cat, Skiddles.
I love working at Oakland Avenue Charter because it has a tight family atmosphere, like the small towns I've lived in growing up. Welcome to our family! I look forward to all that we will accomplish by working together for one purpose, helping your child become the best they can be.
