We are so pleased to announce a new initiative at the Town of Oakland called “Coffee with the Town Manager”. This event was designed to create an atmosphere where residents and the Town Manager can learn from each other. This is the perfect place to get answers to questions and learn more about what is going on around town in an informal setting.
On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Steve Koontz, Town of Oakland Manager held his first “Coffee with the Town Manager” event. I would like to thank the residents that took time out of their day to attend this meeting. Some of the topics covered in the first meeting were our upcoming budget, improvements to Speer Park (resident input meetings will be scheduled in the near future), current housing developments and upcoming road improvements; 5G telecommunications, and traffic concerns. If you are part of a group such as an HOA, church, Neighborhood Watch, etc. that would like to meet with the Town Manager, please let us know and we are happy to schedule at the convenience of the attendees.
I encourage residents to attend our Commission Meetings which are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 pm. This is a great way to become involved in what is going on in Oakland. We value and encourage your input which we have used to guide us on improvements in written agreements with the Oakland Park and Longleaf projects, etc. Agendas for Commission Meetings are posted on the Town Website on the Thursday prior to the meetings and outside the Post Office.
I will also provide periodic town updates on the Town Website and on the Town Facebook page.
