[ARCHIVED] Important Notice: Hull Island at Oakland development site work has begun.

Equipment and personnel dig a hole for piping for Hull Island construction project

Important Notice: Hull Island at Oakland development site work has begun.

As the predominantly rural areas in the western areas of Oakland develop into vibrant new neighborhoods, fire protection, quality drinking water, and the continued reduction of septic systems are of paramount importance. Water and sewer pipelines are currently being constructed to serve the regions of Hull Island Road, Simeon Road, and ultimately, the Killarney area. The improvements will also include additional fire hydrants and connections for expanded restroom facilities within the Oakland Nature Preserve.

Over the course of the next few months, construction activity will be taking place along the streets mentioned, as well as Machete Trail and Oakland Avenue. All construction is upon Town-owned properties, or within right-of ways and easements, and will not impact existing residential properties in the Trailside neighborhood or surrounding areas. Specifically, the pipelines will be approximately 10 to 15 feet from the rear property line of those homes along Stationside Drive, which are adjacent to the Oakland Nature Preserve.“
