With Christmas
just around the corner, it is time once again for us begin our Annual Christmas
Toy Drive. This year the Toy Drive will begin on Monday,
November 26th and will run through December 17th. Collection boxes will be set up in the lobbies
of the police station, town hall and the Oakland Avenue Charter School. DG Doughnuts at the corner of Tubb and SR50
and the 7-Eleven on Remington Road have also volunteered to collect toys at
their locations. Gift
cards to toy stores or department stores are welcome too. We ask that those who wish to make a
financial donation to do so no later than December 14th, so we have time to
purchase the toys for distribution. Anyone wishing to make such a donation should make the check out to the
Town of Oakland and on memo line put, PD Toy Drive. Donations can be dropped off in the lobby of
the police station or can be mailed to the Oakland Police Department, P.O. Box
521, Oakland, FL 34760. Over the past seven years we have been able
to purchase hundreds of more toys because of financial donations. Each year many of you have generously donated
to this cause and it is appreciated more than you know. Giving children a chance to enjoy the
holidays is something that we hope to do each and every year.
