[ARCHIVED] Oakland Avenue Charter School students become heroes

Landon Bliven has been battling leukemia since January 2017 and is currently in remission.

We all know that our Oakland Avenue Charter School staff and students are local heroes to our Oakland community however they have also officially joined a Hero Squad. Oakland Avenue Charter students recently kicked off a campaign to help change the future of cancer as they joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Hero Squad.

The school will be participating in the society’s Pennies for Patients campaign through April 18 as they raise money to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in support of blood cancer research. Read more about this project in an article by Eric Gutierrez, staff writer for the Orange Observer.

If you would like to become a hero and help the Oakland Avenue Charter School reach its fundraising goal of $2,019.00, please donate to an Oakland Avenue Charter School student or online.
