At the Town Commission meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd, Mayor Stark issued two proclamations.
Mayor Stark first proclaimed the week of May 6 - May 10, 2019, as Teacher Appreciation Week in Oakland and urged all citizens of Oakland to pay tribute to our wonderful and dedicated teachers at our Oakland Avenue Charter School (OACS). OACS Principal Pamela Dwyer, and many OACS teachers were on hand for the proclamation reading.
Mayor Stark also called upon the citizens of Oakland to observe the week of May 12 - May 18, 2019, as National Police Week to commemorate police officers, past and present, who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and, in doing so, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens. Furthermore, Mayor Stark called upon all citizens of Oakland to observe Tuesday, May 15, 2019, as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of those peace officers who, through their courageous deeds, have lost their lives or have become disabled in the performance of duty. Deputy Chief John Peek, and several Oakland Police Department officers were present for the proclamation reading.
We truly appreciate all that our OACS Teachers and Oakland Police contribute to the Town of Oakland! Well done!
