At the June 25th regular Town Commission Meeting, Oakland Nature Preserve Managing Director Jennifer Hunt provided the Town Commission with a presentation on Fiscal Year 2018-2019 highlights.
The presentation reflected continuous adherence to ONP's original mission "To promote an understanding of the fragile balance between mankind and the environment by educating visitors about Lake Apopka basin's ecosystems and cultural history, and by restoring and conserving the lands within the Preserve."
Highlights of the presentation included increases in education offerings through school programs, camps, blue hikes, night hikes, Science Saturdays, and Story Time. There has also been an increase in visitors, volunteer hours, and expanded youth volunteer programs.
