Thanks to Max Wiese, the Town of Oakland now has a new bicycle repair station adjacent to Tubb Street and the West Orange Trail and in proximity to the new Arts & Heritage Center.
Max who is part of Boy Scout Troop 6 out of Dr. Phillips created the bicycle repair station as part of his Eagle Scout Project. Max grew up riding around the West Orange Trail and saw a need for a repair station along the Oakland part of the trail. He got inspiration for the bicycle repair station when he was visiting Munich and decided to approach the Town of Oakland about partnering to place the repair station near the town center. Max who will be attending the University of Munich to study electrical engineering just graduated from Cypress Creek High School. Max custom designed and oversaw the manufacturing of the all-tool station that is part of the repair station. A user can place their bicycle up on the holding bars and then pull the tool out that they need to make the repair. Max also installed a tire pump to help with low or flat tires.
The Town of Oakland commends Max for taking the initiative to approach the town with his idea, create the design, and oversee the install of the station. Thank you Max and best wishes on your new adventure in Munich!
