[ARCHIVED] Mayor Kathy Stark Issues Proclamation for Week of the Family 2019

Historic Town Hall

At the October 8, 2019 Town of Oakland Commission Meeting, Mayor Kathy Stark issued the following proclamation for Week of the Family 2019.

“WHEREAS, the Town of Oakland is blessed with a multitude of families – an essential part of the culture, social and spiritual fabric of our community; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Oakland Commissioners recognize that strong families are at the center of strong communities; that children live better lives when their families are strong; and that families are strong when they live in communities that connect them to economic opportunities, social networks, and services; and

WHEREAS, everyone has a role to play in making families successful, including neighborhood organizations, businesses, non-profit agencies, policy makers, and, of course, families themselves; and

WHEREAS, during the week of November 2, 2019 through November 9, 2019, Town residents should take time to honor the importance of families and recommit to enhancing and extending the special connections that support and strengthen them throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Oakland will join other Orange County municipalities, agencies and organizations to honor and celebrate the family unit – the bedrock of our communities.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Kathy Stark, Mayor of the Town of Oakland, do hereby proclaim the week of November 2, 2019 through November 9, 2019 in the Town of Oakland:

                                                 ‘Week of the Family’.”

The signed proclamation was presented to Victoria Laney representing the non-profit Week of the Family. This is the 17th year for Week of the Family.
