Once again this year the Oakland Police Department
will be conducting its Annual Christmas Toy Drive. This year the Toy
Drive will begin on Monday, November 28th. Collection
boxes will be set up in the lobbies of the police station and of town
hall. We will be collecting toys until December 20th and ask
anyone wishing to donate to drop off new unwrapped toys at either of those two
locations. Gift cards to toy stores or department stores are welcome
too. Over the past four years we have been able to purchase hundreds of
more toys for distribution because of financial donations. Anyone
wishing to make such a donation should make the check out to the Town of
Oakland and on the comment line put, Toy Drive. Donations can be dropped
off in the lobby of the police station or can be mailed to the Oakland Police
Department, P.O. Box 521, Oakland, FL 34760. We ask that those who
wish to make a financial donation to do so no later than December 15th
so we have time to purchase the toys for distribution. We are
hopeful that this year’s campaign will allow us to bring a little holiday cheer
to children who might otherwise not have a toy to open on Christmas day
